Biography

Lisa Falkenstern has been a professional illustrator for more than thirty years.

She is a Gold Medal winner from the New York Society of Illustrators and won the Platinum Award, Gold Award and Bronze Award for her work from Creativity International. Lisa also won Best in Show and People’s Choice Award at the 2011, 2012 and 2016 NJ SCBWI conference. She has been in gallery shows in New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In the Focus On Nature XIV show at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, her painting of a Tulip Tree won a jury award. She was one of the artists featured in the 2017 Illuxcon. She is in the permanent collection of the New York Society of Illustrators and the New York State Museum.

Lisa has illustrated the picture books, The Busy Tree, published by Marshall Cavendish, and My Very Own Pirate Book, published by I See Me. She has written and illustrated A Dragon Moves In, also published by Marshall Cavendish and Professor Whiskerton Presents Steampunk ABC, published by Two Lions. Lisa is in a book on women fantasy painters, Women of Wonder, published by Underwood Books. She is profiled in the book, Paperbacks from Hell, published by Quirk Books.

Lisa also paints portraits and landscapes. She generally works in oils as well as egg tempera, acrylic and digitally.

Her fine art is shown in Gallery Piquel in New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ.
